Kenshandra T. Mitchell // Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, P.C. // Topic: Religion in the Workplace: Religious Accommodation, Discrimination, and Harassment
Kenshandra is an associate in Chambliss' Labor and Employment group. Her practice is focused on advising employers of all sizes on common workplace issues and defending employers before state and federal administrative agencies and in state and federal court against claims of discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful discharge brought under Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, and FLSA. She also drafts, edits, and reviews employment agreements, separation agreements, employee handbooks, and employment policies with special consideration for compliance with state and federal laws.

Maury Nicely // Evans Harrison Hackett PLLC // Topic: HR/Employment Law Predictions: What to Expect in 2026
Maury Nicely concentrates his practice in the areas of employment litigation, labor law, and general business litigation. He has addressed issues pertaining to all areas of labor and employment law in order to assist clients in preparing and maintaining employee records, making proactive decisions to prevent workplace issues from arising, and addressing formal complaints if and when they arise. He has represented clients in defending against a wide variety of lawsuits brought in both federal and state courts, claims for unemployment compensation, and complaints filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and corresponding state agencies. Maury has prepared contractual agreements and documents associated with a broad range of employment decisions, including employment contracts, separation agreements, non-competition and confidentiality agreements, and programs for alternative methods of dispute resolution (ADR) in the workplace. He has also drafted employment policies and procedures for a wide range of clients, from small start-up businesses to established, multinational employers.

Russell W. Gray represents local, regional and national clients on a full range of labor and employment matters, including wage and hour, drug testing, policy manuals, covenants not to compete, response to union activity, various employment forms, compliance advice and employment litigation. Mr. Gray also has more than 25 years of experience in commercial and business litigation, including litigation involving contractual matters, trade secrets, stock valuation and real property. He has litigated matters before courts or government agencies in approximately 20 states.

Scott Simmons // Miller & Martin // Topic: Has It Really Been A Year Already? Updates, New Laws, and Other General Musings
Scott Evan Simmons focuses his practice on employment litigation and preventative counseling in the firm's Labor & Employment practice. Mr. Simmons regularly counsels clients on a wide range of employment-related topics, including wage-and-hour compliance, hiring, termination, and the creation and modification of general personnel policies. He also has significant experience defending a wide variety of employment-related lawsuits in front of a variety of employment-related forums, including state and federal courts in multiple states, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, similar state agencies, and the National Labor Relations Board. As a former business owner with a master’s degree in business administration, Scott draws on his business-management background in communicating with clients on day-to-day legal issues, including risk management, employee relations, labor negotiations, and employer compliance matters.

Stacie advises employers of all sizes on how to comply with applicable state and federal laws concerning employee leave and pregnancy, disability, and religious accommodation as well as anti-discrimination, harassment, and retaliation laws while still effectively running their businesses.

Everett "Rett" L. Hixson III // Chartwell Law // Topic: Winning the Employment-Practices Liability Claim Before It Begins: Proactive Steps to Protect Coverage and Achieve Early Resolution
Everett “Rett” L. Hixson III is a partner in the Chattanooga office of Chartwell Law, a national firm with almost 40 offices across the country. He is licensed in Tennessee, Georgia, and Kentucky. Rett maintains a robust defense litigation practice representing insurance carriers, businesses, and individuals in a variety of matters such as employment law, professional liability, commercial litigation, and general liability claims.
A significant portion of Rett’s practice focuses on employment law and labor relations. He handles discrimination, retaliation, wrongful‑termination, and sexual harassment claims; Title IX matters; FCRA matters; section 1981 claims; section 1983 claims; and disputes involving non‑compete and non‑solicitation agreements, as well as misappropriation of trade secrets. Rett represents employers before the EEOC and in state and federal courts in cases involving Title VII, ADEA, ADA, FLSA, TPPA, and THRA. He has successfully resolved employment-related matters in nearly every state in the Southeast and several others across the country.

Kathleen Siciliano counsels employers of all sizes on discrimination or retaliation claims under Title VII, FMLA, FLSA, ADA, and ADEA. She also advises educational intuitions on issues involving Title IX and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Her experience further extends to advising employers on employment agreements, medical leave and disability concerns, LGBTQ matters, workplace investigations, and restrictive covenants and trade secret enforcement, all while ensuring state and federal employment law compliance.
